Professional Background:
I joined the team at the Psychology and Wellness Centre in November of 2019. From November 2017 to November 2019, I was working at Scintilla Wellness Centre until the closure of the clinic, providing a wealth of psychological services to adults. I have a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Ottawa and a Master’s degree from Université de Moncton. I am a licensed psychologist with the College of Psychologist of New Brunswick since 1996.
I began my career in the correctional field and accepted a psychologist position at Dorchester Penitentiary in 1992. The penal system remained my work environment until 2017. Throughout my career with Correctional Service Canada, I was actively involved with both the Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) and the Employee Assistance Program (EAP). I acquired a wealth of knowledge with regards to stress management and mental wellness in the workplace. In 2017, I made a conscious decision to follow my dream and transitioned to a new career in private practice and joined Scintilla Wellness Centre, where I provided psychological interventions until the clinic closed in October of 2019.
My practice focuses on individual therapy with adults and the elderly. I recognize the importance of building a climate of trust and mutual respect to facilitate psychological wellness and help others improve the quality of their life. I particularly favour a process-based therapy identified as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) focusing on mindfulness skills.
