Professional Background
Hi! My name is Noémie Chiasson, and I am one of the three practicum students at the Psychology and Wellness Centre. Since the start of January 2024, I have been working as a therapist-in-training under the supervision of Paulette Levesque, a clinical psychologist and the Centre’s owner.

I graduated from Mount Allison University in 2021 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. After completing my bachelor’s degree, I worked as a substitute teacher for the New Brunswick Francophone South School District (DSF-S) for about a year.

Working with children allowed me to develop my interpersonal skills further, including the ability to relate to students of various ages and backgrounds and hone my rapport-building techniques. Children are enriching to work with and have enhanced my patience, kindness, and respect for individual differences. Although passionate about teaching, I always knew my true calling was in the mental health field. I am pursuing a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University.

I am deeply committed to helping others. My primary goal during each session is to create a warm and welcoming environment where my clients feel safe and comfortable exploring their problems and concerns. I offer my services in English and French to accommodate a broader range of clients.

My academic background and professional experience reflect a continuous dedication to enhancing my skills in psychology and counselling. As a substitute teacher, I gained valuable experience in classroom management, communicating with parents, and adapting to students’ individual needs. These skills have proven invaluable in my current role as a therapist-in-training, allowing me to adopt an empathetic and personalized approach to my clients.

As a master’s student, I am committed to ongoing learning and professional development. Working under Paulette Levesque’s supervision provides invaluable guidance and constructive feedback, further enriching my therapeutic approach. I am immensely grateful for the opportunity to work at the Psychology and Wellness Centre, where I can apply my academic knowledge in a practical and collaborative setting.

I am dedicated to helping my clients achieve their personal goals and improve their well-being. I am honoured to be part of the Psychology and Wellness Centre and look forward to continuing my growth and development as a therapist-in-training.
