Professional Background
Hello, my name is Sapna Smart, and I am thrilled to embark on my journey as a practicum intern therapist (MACP) at the esteemed Psychology and Wellness Centre. My passion for mental health began with my Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Hons) from John Moores University in England in 2008.
I completed a certificate diploma in Community Mental Health and Psychology from Niagara College in 2014 to further enhance my expertise. My passion for psychology stems from a deep love for humanity, nurtured through my diverse career experiences working with various age groups. This passion drives me to help others and understand human behaviour and mental health complexities.
I am thrilled to be working under the supervision of Paulette Levesque, a highly respected clinical psychologist and the Psychology and Wellness Centre owner. Paulette brings over 30 years of experience providing many clients with therapy, assessment, coaching, and supervision. I am confident that her expertise and dedication to mental health will provide invaluable guidance as I continue to develop my skills as a therapist.
My educational background in nursing, combined with my professional experience as a counsellor in a hospital (India) and as a manager in a retirement home ( Canada), has laid a solid foundation for my career in mental health. With over ten years of experience in healthcare, management, and counselling, I believe in adopting a holistic approach to therapy. I utilize various therapeutic tools tailored to each client's needs, ensuring they receive evidence-based mental health services. I aim to empower clients to discover their inner strength and resilience through therapeutic modalities.
I am deeply committed to working with diverse populations, regardless of age, gender, religion, race, or sexual orientation. My goal is to provide a nonjudgmental and safe space for all clients. As a therapist, my multilingual abilities—speaking Punjabi, Hindi, Urdu, and English—enable me to connect with a broader range of individuals. I am dedicated to being a good listener and am always eager to learn more about different cultures.
I look forward to supporting and helping you throughout your therapeutic journey, offering compassionate care and tailored therapeutic approaches to meet your unique needs
