Professional Background
Hi, my name is Sarah Reynolds, and I am an MACP Practicum Student working at the Psychology and Wellness Centre. I am excited to work with individuals, children, and families who are struggling with depression, anxiety, relationship issues, etc. I am currently pursuing my Master of Arts degree in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. My journey in the field of psychology began with my Bachelor of Science degree in Biopsychology, where I developed a deep understanding of the intricate relationship between biology and human behaviour. Through this academic pursuit, I discovered my true passion for psychology and counselling, guiding my professional aspirations.

I am privileged to be supervised by Paulette Levesque, a distinguished clinical psychologist and the owner of the Psychology and Wellness Centre. With approximately 30 years of experience in the field, Paulette has provided a wide range of services to a diverse group of clients, including therapy, assessment, coaching, and supervision. Her extensive expertise and dedication to mental health make her an invaluable mentor, ensuring that I receive the highest quality guidance and support. Under her supervision, I am confident I can deliver effective and compassionate care to my clients.

My educational background has provided me with a solid foundation in understanding the complexities of the human mind. Additionally, my previous work as an assistant to a psychiatrist allowed me to observe and assist in the therapeutic process, gaining valuable insights into the clinical aspects of mental health care. This role taught me the importance of empathy, patience, and the need for a non-judgmental approach to helping individuals navigate their mental health challenges.

Furthermore, my experience as a residential care worker allowed me to work closely with individuals in a more personal and supportive environment. Here, I learned the significance of creating a safe and nurturing space for clients to feel heard and understood. These experiences have reinforced my belief in the power of a supportive therapeutic relationship and have equipped me with the skills to promote and support my clients' mental health effectively.

In my practice, I aim to foster an environment of unconditional positive regard and empathy. I offer individual therapy for children aged ten years and above, adolescents, and adults, utilizing an individualized and integrative approach to counselling. I aim to help clients explore their feelings, thoughts, and emotions and learn adaptive behaviours and coping mechanisms to handle life's challenges more effectively. I am committed to providing a compassionate and supportive space where clients can feel secure to express themselves without fear of judgment. Together, we can identify underlying issues affecting their mental health and develop strategies to overcome them.
