The Psychology and Wellness Centre has a dedicated clinical team consisting of three psychologists, a female clinical social worker, a clinical sexologist, and laser therapist, who are all experienced. You can speak openly with all of our competent, attentive, and passionate professionals whose skills are combined to give you a wide range of services. All of our professionals are members in good standing of their respective professional associations.

General
Our services are offered in both official languages.
Our services are available for children, teenagers, adults and the elderly.
Our clients may receive services individually, as couples or with their families.
We can also help those who have sustained a workplace accident, a criminal act, an automobile accident or a sexual assault or abuse.

Psychotherapy (individual, couple or family)
Psychotherapy consists in an individual, family or couple approach aimed at soothing suffering, solving issues or conflicts, or overcoming hardships. It is geared at any individual, chid, teenager, adult or older person wanting to bring significant changes at the cognitive, emotional or behavioral functional level in order to have a more satisfying life.

Professional Rates/Fees
Rates/fees vary from one service to another. All of our authorized practitioners working in a private office are responsible for their own rates. These are generally set sessions of 50 to 60 minutes. Speak to your professional to learn more and feel free to ask him or her questions about rates/fees and other terms and conditions.

Psychotherapy's fees are not covered by New Brunswick Medicare. However, these fees are often refundable either in whole or in part by your personal or collective insurance coverage. We are not authorized to file insurance claims on your behalf. It is up to the clients to find out the details of their insurance coverage and to file refund claims themselves in the manner specified by their insurance provider.

If your insurance doesn't cover fees associated with a psychology consultation, you may deduct these fees under medical expenses when you file your income tax. The receipt provided at the time of service will serve to that end.

Evaluation
At the Psychology and Wellness Centre, our psychotherapists provide evaluations that allow them to thoroughly understand the problem(s) by assessing the client's various functioning aspects or the different factors contributing to the distress of an individual, a couple or a family. We take into account all psychological, relational, and emotional aspects, as well as lifestyle habits and health-related factors. Through an evaluation, a psychotherapist is able to propose appropriate interventions and treatments which will promote the well-being of an individual. Sometimes, the psychotherapist might decide that the nature of the problem itself requires a more thorough evaluation or a psychological diagnosis. In such cases, he or she can refer the client to a more appropriate professional to carry out this evaluation. Psychological tests are then used to complete the evaluation.

At the Psychology and Wellness Centre, the fee for a psychological diagnostic is $175 per hour. The total cost will vary based on the number of hours required to complete the evaluation. You may request that the psychologist provide you with an estimate of the total number of hours needed to complete the evaluation. Two to three interviews consisting of psychological tests, the assessment of the test results, and the time to write a report summarizing the results will be necessary to complete the evaluation.

Defusing and emotional debriefing in a personal or professional environment
We can also help and work with people (in a personal or professional environment) affected by emotional pain caused by a violent event. Whether they are policemen, firemen, ambulance attendants, doctors, military personnel, bank and post office employees, prison and security guards, public transport drivers or merchants, there are many people who may be at risk, due to their profession, of having issues or witnessing an incident that will confront them with the reality of death (real or potential). In these contexts, people such as victims, witnesses, colleagues and loved one can go through a traumatic event. It is preferable to know how to help people affected by emotional pain.

Defusing consists of bringing immediate help to any victim directly affected by an emotional shock as well as other people indirectly affected by tragedy. It includes simple actions such as offering help, providing a blanket, coaching through breathing exercises, helping to call relatives, etc. It is important to be aware of the quality of communication so as to not involuntarily harm victims.

The debriefing is an accompanying method which allows someone to bring psychological support to an individual or a group of people who experienced a psychological trauma. When the same event affects several people, it is recommended to carry out a group debriefing (maximum of 10 to 12 people). When people are in a position to share their feelings with others who went through the same ordeal as they did, they feel understood and supported.

Group debriefing can also be followed by an individual debriefing. For those who are not able to deal with group situations, an individual debriefing will be indispensable.

At the Psychology and Wellness Centre, the fee for a psychologist who completes a group debriefing is that of $325 per hour and $175 for individual debriefing. The group debriefing involves an urgent intervention which requires the psychologist to postpone regular appointments so he can be present.
